Who We Are::

The Men's Club works to build a sense of community for the adult men of the parish and their families. Our purpose is to support the parish through fundraising, social and spiritual events and to provide manpower in support of parish activities. Our main areas of emphasis are: fostering physical, social and spiritual enrichment of the young people in our parish, and reaching out to the Woodbury community and surrounding area. Membership is 130 and growing. Meetings are scheduled 8:00pm, the last Thursday of every month in Fellowship Hall unless noted otherwise.

Accomplishments::
As of November 2004

  • Purchases : Grille and two griddles for the kitchen; Basketball goals for the playground; "Boom Boxes" (28 total) for use by Faith Formation, Early Childhood Education Center and Preschool Program; Plant watering machine for Art & Environment Committee; Ice machine for the school cafeteria.
  • Striped the parking lot for kid's games, a crosswalk, and directional arrows
  • Built athletic fields (one softball field, two soccer fields, one baseball field) complete with backstops, equipment storage bin and goals (in process of completion)
  • Funded purchase and installation of irrigation system for athletic fields
  • Funded parish catechetical leaders attendance at spring 2003 National Conference of Catechetical Leadership
  • Funded and constructed ECEC toddler and preschool sandboxes and surrounding landscaping
  • Funded the athletic department for upgrades to the PA sound system in gym
  • Assisted the parish by funding one third of the purchase of a floor mat for the gym floor
  • Funded technology department for computer memory upgrades and multimedia system
  • $1000 cash contribution to the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf in November 2003
  • $500 cash donation to a family facing medical and financial emergency in December 2003
  • Sponsor "Adopt-A-Families" in December
  • $500 cash donation to help fund Ministry of Mom's Sharing (M.O.M.S) programs
  • Purchased and installed shelves at the LifeCare Center East pregnancy resource center
  • Donated $1,000 towards Youth Ministry's summer 2004 mission trip to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
  • Funded the purchase of catechisms given to each Saint Ambrose confirm and in May 2004


Activities::

  • Landscape maintenance – tree planting, rock picking, grounds cleanup
  • Assist the Liturgical Committee with Christmas decorations
  • Assist Vacation Bible School with set up
  • Assist Youth Ministry "Summer Stretch" program
  • Assist the Theresa Living Center with donations of supplies, yard maintenance and resident moves
  • Assist with support of Parish Events: e.g. Annual Picnic, Venezuelan Mission Celebration
  • Baseball/softball ball field dragging and maintenance on game days
  • Facilitate "Job Networking" as an aid to the unemployed and underemployed
  • Faith Sharing groups for men (e.g. prayer breakfast)
