6) Old Business

a) November 9th Pancake Breakfast Results – Gross sales $2,469 (served 373 adults + 201 kids); total expenses = $740.26; net income = $1,728.26. In addition to terrific numbers, we had a lot of positive feedback. Well done! Thank you everybody that helped and special thanks to event coordinators Tim Donovan, Steve Plourde, Mike D'Agostino.

b) Club Membership – Thanks to Paul Rebholtz for planning & organizing the drive and to Gus, Patrick and Mark Tinucci for hosting the meeting. Vince Cullen won the prize for bringing in most new members(2). In addition to bringing new talents, ideas and an eagerness to play active rolls, our new members and prospects were not inhibited from engaging in spirited discussions.

c) Religious Education Seminar – A search is underway for a guest speaker on world religions and their influence on western civilization. Timeframe for this seminar will be 1Q2004 at the earliest.

d) Cadillac Dinner Advanced Planning Ideas – Mike and Norb presented ideas from November 11th adv. planning meeting attended by Bill Brino, Vince Cullen, Mike McCann, Dave Betz, Norb Tennessen, Pat O'Neill, & Mike Baumann. Based on feedback to the options presented, people favor retaining the format as in prior years:

i) Dinner with silent auction.

ii) Lake Elmo Inn – people like LEI -- reputation, menu & service, however better sound system and accommodations to seat everybody in one central area would be preferred.

iii) Preference to schedule on a Thursday (instead of Monday) evening.

Mike Dickermann proposed a wine auction as an effective fund raiser…to be pursued further.

e) Funding Approvals and Requests

i) Woodbury Christian Cupboard - $1,000 contribution from Men's Club to be presented to Dick Wolfe.

ii) Adopt-a-Family: The Men's Club is sponsoring two families. Thanks to the Gus Tinucci and Ryan Vaske families for volunteering to buy the gifts.

iii) Support to East Side St. Paul Parishes and Trinity School: Pending

iv) New Request – Norb presented a request from LifeCare Center East (a non profit non denominational social service organization that provides crisis pregnancy services on the east side of St. Paul) for $300 to purchase shelving at their center on White Bear Avenue. Motion was made and seconded to honor this request.

v) New Request – Patrick Tinucci presented a request to help support a Ministry of Mother Sharing Group. This is an active Mom's spirituality support group at St. Ambrose that experienced a $1,000 budget shortfall at a dinner event held earlier this year and asked for help from the Men's Club. After extensive discussions and a failure to pass a motion for covering the full $1,000, motion was made and passed for covering $500 of the request.

vi) New Request – Patrick Tinucci indicated there was a request forthcoming to help support a program for assisting children with Autism. This request was tabled until after we establish guidelines and a process for handling requests for financial assistance.

7) New Business –

a) Financial Assistance Process – With the increase in requests for financial assistance that go beyond the bounds of our existing club charter, motion was passed to have a committee formulate guidelines and process for handling funding requests. This matter will be taken up by the officers and board members and reported at a future meeting.

8) Next Meeting December 18th (7:30 "social hour", business meeting at 8:30 to 9:30) at Awada's Restaurant,

9) Adjournment at 9:30 PM.
