Monthly Meeting Minutes
800 p.m. October 30, 2003

1) Opening Prayer

2) Call to Order by Pat O'Neill

3) Roll Call - 19 members present - Officers present: Pat O'Neill, Mike Baumann, Wayne Schiferl and Norb Tennessen.

4) New Members - Mike George and Matt Leighton

5) September 25th Minutes: Approved

6) Treasurer's Report Approved: Current Financial Position = $30,051.87. Outstanding commitments = $15,389.58. Net position with all commitments paid = $14,662.29. Net Event income for Oktoberfest = $8,671.00. Total YTD Event Income = $30,349.35 (Cadillac + spring pancake brkfst + Lenten fish dinner + Oktoberfest).

7) Old Business

a) November 9th Pancake Breakfast Planning – Volunteers sign-up sheet distributed and collected by Tom Donovan.

b) Athletic Fields Update – Installation of goals for first soccer field completed on September 29th.

c) Gym Floor mats – purchased and installed of which Men's Club funded one-third ($2,000)

d) Club Membership – Thanks to Paul Rebholtz for his leadership in planning our drive. Signing up new members will be the main theme for our November 20th meeting to be held at Tinucci's restaurant in Newport. Paul is challenging each member to bring at least one new member to this meeting. The goal is 100 new member prospects at this meeting. Hors d'oeuvres to be provided courtesy of the Men's Club plus a cash bar. An award valued at $50 will go to the member bringing the most new members.

e) Religious Education Seminar – the planning committee has chosen world religions as the topic toward gaining better understanding of Islam in particular. Search for speakers to be initiated with Father Paul. Timeframe for this seminar will be 1Q2004 at the earliest.

f) Father/Son Breakfast – Motion made and seconded to authorize up to $1,000 to help subsidize the expenses for this event. The idea would be to have an appropriate local professional sports team celebrity as a guest speaker. First step is to obtain Father Tom's position/concurrence.

g) Adopt-a-Highway: Thank you's to Mike Baumann and his daughter, Paul Rebholtz and his son, Steve Bovitz, Pat O'neill, Vince Cullen and Mark Fritz for completing fall cleanup on Saturday, October 25th.

8) New Business –

a) "Cadillac Dinner Blue Ribbon Panel" – Mike Baumann is in process of scheduling a gathering of any and all interested in playing an active roll in next year's event. A meeting will be held at a local food/beverage establishment during the second week in November. If you are interested, please email either Mike Baumann or Norb Tennessen.

b) Christmas Tree Setup – A signup sheet was distributed for setup that is scheduled Sunday afternoon and evening December 21st. Setup cannot be completed until after the 5:00 mass. If you are willing to help, please send an email to Norb Tennessen.

c) Officer Nominations for 2004 – Nominations are due at the November 20th meeting.

d) Funding Approvals –

i) Woodbury Christian Cupboard - Motion made and approved for a $1,000 donation. Dick Wolfe who is director of WCC will be at St. Ambrose to speak at the masses the weekend of November 15/16. We will try to coordinate our donation to coincide with his visit. These funds are intended to help fill critical stocking inventory needs at the Christian Cupboard or for the Emergency Assistance Fund which is also managed by WCC in responding to emergency requests for financial assistance within the Woodbury area.

ii) Adopt-A-Family – Motion made and approved to sponsor two families-of-four with the provision to target families within the Woodbury/Washington County area.

9) Next Meeting November 20th (7:30 "social hour", business meeting 8:00 to 9:30) at Tinucci's Restaurant, Newport.
