4) Ball Fields Update:
a) The Executive Board of the Men's Club approved at $3000 grant to the athletic department for purchasing equipment and storage bin for the new baseball diamond culminating a multi-year effort by the Men's Club to plan, design and construct these fields. Special thanks to Greg Bischel, Mike Bailey, Mike D'Agostino and Pat O'Neill, rock pickers and all who worked on this project at one time or another.
b) Mike D'Agostino reported on the agreement that has been signed between Saint Ambrose and the City of Woodbury to share our athletic fields with the city. This culminates a multi-year effort. I am personally filled with joy and gratitude when I enter the SAW campus to see a City groundskeeper in his industrial strength John Deere tractor grooming the fields.
5) Report on Bishop Pates Endowment Fund raiser. The Men's Club contributed a $2000 matching grant to this 1st annual event which has raised in excess of 60,000.
6) Small Action Teams Update: Members who have not yet signed up on any of the established committees were encouraged to do so. Eric Turnipseed has agreed to chair this year's Oktoberfest once again and circulated a sign up sheet.
7) Prophetic Leadership: Norb issued a challenge that we consider the imminent arrival of the Planned Parenthood Sex Clinic in the City Centre East mall as a call to action. He invited members to support the Walk for Life on June 11th at Lake Phalen as an opportunity to raise funds to provide positive alternatives to Planned Parenthoods sexual promiscuity agenda. If we are able to raise $100,000 per year, we can establish a respect life/family values office in Woodbury.
a) Pat O'Neill made a motion to authorizing Norb to spend up to $300 to place an ad in the Woodbury Bulletin. Seconded & passed.
8) Announcement Woodbury High School Football Golf Tournament: Prestwick Golf Club, Tuesday, June 27th. Anybody interested in playing in this tournament should contact Zack McBroom at 651-256-7249. Mark Fritz made a motion that the Men's Club sponsor a Tee ($300). Seconded & passed.
9) Next Meeting Thursday June 22nd at the home of Barb & Mike Baumann. Spirituality is the theme of this meeting.
